Ski Pro - Marine Tec Summitt 2100 VDX 2007

BOAT REVIEW
Designed specifically for wake riders, Ski Pro’s Summit 2100 VDX is like nothing else in this guide. Practically everything about this Texas-built ski boat is customizable, from the design of the tower to the placement of the gas fill. The amount of input that a customer has is unbelievable. The standard 320-horsepower engine is configured as a V-drive, and it has exceptional handling, thanks to the innovative dual-rudder system. With this ski boat, Ski Pro is targeting those boat buyers who are ready to get more serious about wakeboarding, but who like the ability to change the wake for other types of water sports.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
Whereas many water-sports boats have hulls designed after smaller ski boats, this VDX draws inspiration from offshore hulls using large power. It has a steep deadrise for a better ride and bigger wake, with large lifting strakes and overall surface area. With the two in-floor ballast tanks full of 980 pounds of water weight, the boat throws up big, steep wakes with a narrow profile and lots of pop. That shape might scare off beginners who may be prone to stuffing the wake, which in part is why the VDX has aluminum plates that extend past the transom by 21⁄2 feet. A mechanism at the transom can flex the plates down to soften the wakes if needed. Flex them the other way, and it adds rocker to the hull shape, sucking the boat down to enhance the wakeboarding characteristics.

The right adjustment promotes faster hole shots and cruising. Two rudders allow for tight, controlled turns, especially when the ballast is empty. The performance is just as custom as the boat itself.
