BOAT REVIEW
The Launch 20 SSV is a great jumping-on point for boat buyers looking to try out a luxury wakeboarding-dedicated V-drive. It shares many of the attributes of the pro level 24 SSV, though in very unimposing dimensions that make it a cinch to drive, trailer and store. The smaller size also means it works well for recreational skiing. A series of enhancements has made the wakeboard and ski boat as stylish, functional and durable as ever, especially with the new Limited Edition package that features an engine up-grade, custom red exterior and very cool brick graphics wrap.
PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
The Launch 20 SSV appeals to the vast majority of wakeboarders, from beginners to advanced-intermediate riders. The wakes aren’t rampy mountains; they’re fun, mellow, crisp peaks that anyone can get a kick out of, in every sense. As with the bigger Supras, this model has a deep keel that digs into the water, sacrificing some speed in the name of displacing water. Wakes get thrown up bigger than you might expect, more so when the factory ballast bags are filled to their 1,200-pound capacity.
While many boat manufacturers have been so focused on making boats bigger and bigger in recent years, Supra took a step back and introduced this 20 SSV last year as part of a new group of 20-foot-8-inch models. The renewed emphasis on this smaller end of the spectrum is opening up the world of water sports to more people. One test drive behind the 20 SSV, whether wakeboarding or open-water skiing, will have these buyers hooked.
