BOAT REVIEW
The 22Vé from Tigé hits the sweet spot in many ways. The 22-foot length preserves the handling characteristics of smaller boats while providing the wide and deep interior space for up to14 people. When it comes to performance, this wakeboard and ski boat also delivers super wakeboarding wakes, yet can satisfy advanced recreational skiers looking to get in their sets. Beyond all that, the little “é” in the model name is a clue that this wakeboard and ski boat has something special going on, namely the transom bench with driver-side walk-through, the unique ConvexV hull and state-of-the-art electronics. It all adds up to a boat that’s really sweet.
PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
The wakeboarding is great behind the 22Vé. Tigé focuses on the ability of its patented ConvexV hull and TAPS2 wake plate to satisfy many riders’ needs without resorting to ballast. The result is clear when running the 22Vé at wakeboarding speeds. The closer TAPS2 is set to 1, the more wakes quiet down so beginners can get their feet wet. As it approaches the top 8 setting, the wake shape sports pronounced peaks and steeper transitions. And if experts want to push the wake even further, they can do so with far less ballast than other boats.
Instead of relying on heavy ballast, Tigé has the ConvexV hull that naturally runs lower to displace water. Unlike other boats, the ConvexV hull has no hook that creates a lifting effect that extra ballast has to overcome. And the TAPS2 plate is unique in that it’s not just an add-on, but a fully integrated feature that works in concert with the ConvexV.
