Tournament Performance
During its tenure as Malibu's three-event flagship, the Response LXi has pulled world-record runs in women's trick and men's jump and current world records in women's overall and jump. It also is responsible for former team member Chris Parrish's first world slalom record of 1¼ at 43 off in 2005. And the performance of the sleek slalom chariot at the 2007 Shootout only added to its already-considerable legend.

With the newly redesigned Cut Diamond Hull displacing less water to create a softer wake than the 2006 model, the 2007 LXi became the most valuable sixth man of Team Malibu, towing all five skiers in our heated Team Challenge (Drew Ross, Billy Susi, Thomas Degasperi and Nick Parsons) to 391/2, plus team anchor Will Asher, who completed 1½ buoys at 41 off to tie Chris Parrish and secure victory for the second year running.

And during the Malibu-sponsored Fantasy Camp Pro-Am event, the Response LXi was the instrumental factor that helped level the playing field between the pros and the “Joes,” enabling the crew of amateur skiers to perform at new levels alongside some of the sport's top athletes, including team members Will Asher, Thomas Degasperi and Billy Susi.

Pro Analysis
“With 2007 Response LXi, Malibu has integrated the world-class slalom wakes that these boats have been famous for with some more comfortable amenities from a passenger's standpoint. They restored the sports-car feel of the Response LX from the bygone time when ski boats could spin. The tracking is definitely a notch up. The boat feels like it's on a rail, and the precision handling on the course is at an all-new level.” — Drew Ross

Amateur Analysis
“I like that you can order it as you want, so you can decide on all the stuff you want. We're skiing in Europe in the wintertime, so we need heaters, warm-water showers and seat heaters to keep the driver happy. It drives like a sports car. You can turn it on a dime, if needed. The wake is short and sweet, so you just slice  over it and be done with it.” — Heike Neumann
