MasterCraft X-1 2008

BOAT REVIEW
We’re dealing with a classic here. The original X-Star, the X-1 has pulled the Wakeboard Pro Tour as well as the X Games. Although the current version of the X-Star is top dog of MasterCraft’s wakeboard boat lineup, the X-1 made wake history when it came out. Originally designed from a direct-drive, the X-1 is extremely nimble and maneuverable. A bit smaller than other wakeboard boats, the X-1 will still satisfy wakeboarders looking to get started in the sport and advance their skills. It’s a proven boat that’s still going strong, and for anyone looking for a smaller boat with a nice old-school feel, the X-1 should fit the bill.

Wakes
The MasterCraft X-1’s wake is a little steep, but maintains nice ramps that are easy to charge. Because of the smooth transition, the wake doesn’t hit you like a wall, so you can edge at it like you’re invincible and expect nice into-the-flats pop. With stock ballast, we recommend the rider shorten up to 70 feet for great wake-to-wake moves.
Overall: The original X-Star throws out wakes with nice ramps and gentle transitions.

Acceleration
With 350 hp upgraded engine
To 30 mph: 4.8 sec., 116.5 ft.
To 36 mph: 6.4 sec., 199.2 ft.
Top speed: 42.4 mph, 5,100 rpm

Handling
Bow rise: 21 degrees during typical acceleration. Low-profile dash helped with the driver’s visibility.

Tracking: This X-1 has a lot in common with ski boats in the overall design, so the tracking down the line is solid.

Turns: Incredibly nimble and quick, no one will have to float in the water long after falling behind this bad boy.

Vibration: Solid MasterCraft construction means everything holds steady, including the secure board racks.
Gs crossing wake at 22 mph: 1.6
Gs crossing wake at 30 mph: 1.1
