Supra Launch 21 V 2008

BOAT REVIEW
“Classic” was the consensus of our team after testing the Supra Launch 21 V. The model represents the design origins of the Supra boat line, and it’s a great all-around performer, offering wakes that appeal to beginner to intermediate riders. Advanced wakeboarders will find ramps to keep them entertained when the 1,450 factory ballast is filled and tweaked to their liking with the adjustable Smart Plate wake shaper. And with an oversized sun pad and Supra’s signature playpen bow seating, there was room for our whole crew to enjoy the ride — when we could get them out of the water.

BEST FEATURES
Deep cabin
With a 31-inch gunwale in the cockpit and a deep bow, the 21 V is well-suited for families that are looking for an extra-secure ride.

Smart Plate
Building the wake to your personal preference on the fly is simple by creating a personal profile for the wake plate and cruise control.

Wakes
This is the steepest of the Supra wakes, with other Launch models being engineered for wakes with longer transitions. It offers very good-sized wakes for beginner to intermediate riders, although we recommend 60-65 feet for the best performance.
Overall: Good all-around wakes for beginner through intermediate riders. Load the ballast for advanced riders, which will help with moves like flip inverts.

Acceleration
With standard 325 hp engine and OJ XMP 14.25×14 four-blade prop
To 30 mph: 6 sec., 145.8 ft.
To 36 mph: 8 sec., 245.7 ft.
Top speed: 41.6 mph, 5,103 rpm

Handling
Bow rise: 19 degrees during typical acceleration. We used the bolster to increase visibility rather than looking between the top of the dash and the top of the windshield.

Tracking: Solid, and great through the double-ups thanks to that deeper bow that handles chop and rough water surprisingly well for a 21-footer. The deep keel complements the two tracking fins.

Turns: A confident feel out on the water.

Vibration:
Gs crossing wake at 22/30 mph: 1.15/.97
No audible rattling or whistling.
