MasterCraft X-80 2009

BOAT REVIEW
The MasterCraft X-80 is a massive, twin-engine beast of a wakeboard boat that can easily double as a family-friendly day cruiser thanks to a long list of functional and luxury touches. It’s yacht certified, so the passenger capacity is at the captain’s discretion. A standard head and 100-gallon fuel tank enable an extended cruising range. Twin, independently rotating screws enable the MasterCraft X-80 to spin 360 degrees for improved agility, and with a dry weight over 6,000 lbs., the wakes are just plain huge.

INSIDE THE BOAT
The MasterCraft X-80 adds new dimension to the term “social,” with a flexible layout that offers three distinct seating zones. Seat backs with transom extensions highlight the unique sun pad, and the driver gets the best seat in the house with yacht-style dual throttles and standard VDIG (Video Digital Gauge) controls.

BEHIND THE BOAT
This big and bad 28-foot water-sports yacht kicks up enough swell to boot you higher than you could ever imagine, but be prepared. The wake is big and steep, and sessioning the MasterCraft X-80 isn’t for the faint of heart. Wake surfers are in for a treat behind this ride, too.
