You’re currently ranked No. 1 on the world ranking list, yet ranked No. 5 on the elite ranking list [based on results from five pro tournaments]. Why do you think your pro-event performances are less consistent than your noncash prize events?
I don’t really know. Mentally, I feel strong. This year was kind of a “new beginning” — or that’s what I like to call it. I think that lots of people counted me out after last season, but this year I won the U.S. nationals, did well in several pro-event prelims, and had higher overall scores compared to previous years. I think I surprised a lot of people. Next year will be even better.

The day after Parrish skied 1/2 at 43 off at Mike Morgan’s 50 Birthday Invitational on November 2, he repeated the performance in another record event to make it seven 41′s and counting for the 2012 season. Photo: Todd Ristorcelli
